About the Felix Schoeller Photo Award
The Felix Schoeller Photo Award honors works that clearly illustrate a love of photography and exceptionally stringent demands on picture quality. As a manufacturer of special papers for high-quality photographic reproductions, the aim of our award is to honor and lend support to photographers who share our passion for uncompromisingly good photography. The Felix Schoeller Photo Award is presented every two years.
The 2021 competition comprises the following categories:
German Peace Prize For Photography
The German Peace Prize for Photography was first announced in 2019. The City of Osnabrück has positioned itself as the “Friedensstadt” (City of Peace) and awards honors including the prestigious Erich-Maria Remarque Peace Prize for outstanding artistic, scientific or journalistic works. The “German Peace Prize for Photography” was initiated and is awarded in a cooperation between the City of Osnabrück and the Felix Schoeller Group. It is a category within the context of the international Felix Schoeller Photo Award for professional photographers. The “German Peace Prize for Photography” honors works that conceptually interpret the topic of “Peace” by means of the medium of photography. Here, the term peace may be very broadly interpreted. For example, it may express peace between peoples, peaceful coexistence in a country or a family, or the inner peace of individuals. There are no limitations set with regard to the photographic genre. The photographs submitted could well be, for instance, journalistic works or portraits, landscapes, architecture, or freestyle/conceptual photography. The value of the cash prize is €10,000.

Best Work by an Emerging Photographer
The Emerging Photographer Award honors up-and-coming young talents in the world of professional photography. This applies to photographers enrolled on degree courses, in professional training or internship who, in the opinion of the jury, particularly deserve to be promoted. The jury honors the best work in this special category with the Felix Schoeller Emerging Photographer Award. Works entered in this category are not subject to any thematic restrictions. The 2021 Emerging Photographer Award will be supported by CAPTURE X Fine Art Inkjet Paper.
